Thanks so much for this! She really wanted to go to Texas A&M, where Jude is as well but admission is competitive. She was thrilled to be accepted. She was also accepted to Baylor with $100,000 in scholarships as a starting place, but she wants to get a nursing degree and likes the way A&M's program is structured better than Baylor's.
“I’ve glimpsed a different facet of her personality by reading her college application essays and that has been a joy. What a wonder, to witness the metamorphosis into adulthood.” Something magical to look forward to 🦋 Thank you so much for sharing! I am eagerly investigating each link … such great recommendations! I still have your foreign language post bookmarked to refer back to as well. You are a great source of inspiration!
When I was a young mother, so much of what I read online was parents writing things like "please don't grow up." I understand that those days when they are small are so precious, but also that I think we all want to be respected where we are, for who we are. I loved being the mother of babies and toddlers, so much so that I became a doula and lactation counselor. But I am loving these days just as much and they are so exciting in their own way. I had a lot of fear about this season and I wish I had been encouraged not to view it so negatively or with foreboding. "Perfect love casts out fear."
I'm glad you enjoyed the links. We are still enjoying our language learning so much!
Rachel, this all is just beautiful! I want to grab the watercolor workbook for one of my daughters! It looks fantastic. I love your beautiful fall rhythms and I can feel the sense of calm and connection in your writing. Thank you for the wonderful family update. Tell your daughter congratulations on her acceptance into her top college pick! How exciting!❤️✨
Tanisha! I can't tell you how excited I was to see your name come through and to read your words! And then my internet was down all day yesterday and I couldn't respond. Thank you for this. Thank you for all of it! I am so excited about what my girls are doing in their watercolor books. She makes it so easy! Even my six-year old Maeve was creating little masterpieces. (It really helps that the illustrations are pre-sketched.) And thanks for your kind words for Indigo. She wants to be a nurse and she wanted to go to the same school as Jude. Texas has a policy where the top 10% of students coming from the school systems are automatically admitted and it leaves very few spots for kids coming from schools without class rankings, small schools, and homeschoolers. They have to work so much harder to gain admission. So we were holding our breath to see how it would go and were very relieved when she was admitted. I'll be glad to have the kids together! So happy to hear from you! Sending you so much love!
I love all the suggestions! We are hobby watercolor painters here too…those workbooks look so fun! We have the Dana Fox books, but these Emily Lex ones are appealing for the seasons. 🍂🧡
I haven't heard of the Dana Fox books. Thanks for sharing! I saw Emily Lex also offers Christmas notecards to watercolor. I think that would be such a special touch to include with a gift!
What was Indy’s top choice for university? And Congratulations to her for being accepted.
