Stitched Together
a holistic pursuit of the creative life
What makes you feel creatively alive? So often we frame our dreams in the context of big life milestones or accomplishments. What if we redefine what dreaming means and weave our dreams into our everyday lives? I dream of reading great thinkers and writers, sewing garments and quilts, knowing and growing plants and flowers, and capturing moments with my camera as a practice of presence and remembering.
Creativity is an act of connection. Whether we are thinking creatively or working with our hands, we connect to generations who came before us. In the present, creative collaboration allows us to form deeper bonds with those we love. We gain clarity about ourselves and the unique contribution we offer our world.
In this newsletter, I’ll share content and inspiration on education, sewing, photography, motherhood, and creative exploration. The poet Dante Alighieri wrote, “Great flames are kindled where small sparks fly.” Let’s kindle small sparks into great flames, together.
I’m Rachel Kovac, homeschooling mother of six children, one now in college. I’ve been writing about motherhood, education, sewing, and creativity since 2008. I am still amazed by the way simple practices of creative exploration bring so much joy, depth, and richness to our daily lives.
